Comments about 55 SERIES Victor Sinclair Series 55 Box Press Green Label Sun Grown Robusto Single Cigar:
I have bought the VS 55 line in boxes, singles and samplers via Thompson auctions, specials and the regular site over the years. My first suggestion for this line is to let them all age in your humidor a minimum of 3 months, out of the cellophane before you smoke them. It will smooth the smoke out improve the burn and remove some harshness.
The VS 55 Robusto Sungrown (green) which I smoked again today was one of my singles via auction. The cigar presents beautifully with green foot ribbon and nice band. Removing the foot ribbon, the initial aroma from the cigar is mild tobacco with no complimentary sensations. The cut is clean and without incident. The cigar lights easily and has a good draw. Initial taste is of a mildly pleasant, yet undistinguished tobacco with no background. The construction is excellent which is made even better by the box-press. Other VS without box-press have more construction issues.
The smoke continues by brightening somewhat with a peppery background taste evolving to a nice medium finish. The ash is dark grey and remains on the cigar for about 2" before falling off. The burn is relatively straight. The smoke lasts approximately 40 minutes.
The Green 55 Robusto is a good everyday cigar of average tobacco and undistinguished taste. Look for it on special or auction. Otherwise, shop around. There are much better for the price.
