This is the world's greatest cigar. Smooth draw, just the right size, great taste, always smoked until I can't hold it. My only reason for not recommending this cigar is that I fear they will go out of stock.

The Padron Serie 1926 80th Anniversary Maduro Perfecto comes to me via the Thompson Auction site via individual and box purchases. Most I put into one of my aging humidors as they mature very well. This cigar presents with it's oily dark Maduro wrapper in a classis perfecto shape. The Torcedor responsible for these beauties obviously knows his business as the shape of the cigar is consistently excellent and greatly enjoyed. The box press only enhances the fine construction of the overall puro. The cigar is given 3 cuts with a perfect cutter which I have found gives me a medium draw to start with, as I prefer with this particular cigar, and which helps me to keep the cigar cool. The aroma of the unlit cigar is of premium dark tobacco, sweet spice and light berry. Initial light is easily accomplished on the perfecto end, with care taken to make sure it is even. A goodly amount of thick white smoke is produced throughout, with a white ash turning to medium grey, building to 1 1/2 inches before falling off. The taste profile of the 80 year is medium/full transitioning to full as the cigar progresses. A variety of flavors pass through the lips including dark cherry, light sweet spices, pepper, coffee and the chocolate taste common to most Padron cigars. The 80 only accentuates the flavors compared to most others. The burn on this cigar is consistently razor sharp and I have never needed to touch one up. The draw will loosen to my preferred slightly loose as the smoke progresses. In summary, this is a top of the line premium smoke that will not disappoint in the taste department. These cigars have a reputation for high nicotine content and the tendency for the head buzz. Judge accordingly. My favorite in the Padron line is the 1926 Serie Maduro Torpedo and remains so, with the 80 high on the list. The primary drawback to this and many Padron cigars is the price, for which I remove one star. With careful shopping, these can be had in the mid 20's, on a regular basis. Savor your cigars.

A truly exceptional smoke. The last third was just as tasty and smooth as the first with a touch of deep chocolate.

Im only a 6mth cigar hitter who thought a stick this price was only hype and good marketing. I was wrong. Even with my limited experience I can tell this is leaps and bounds above the stuff I usually smoke day to day. Very smooth draw, even burn, and delicious taste. Much less over powering than I thought it would be. really exceptional...if your fairly new to cigars, take the leap and try one.

If you like Padron, this will not disappoint. It is important to cut and light this properly as you don't want the Perfecto shape to lead to a bad burn. It is a complex cigar that should be slow smoked to enjoy. I am a chomper and the flavor in the mouth is fantastic and stays solid throughout the smoke. Aging in a humidor for a bit to get it to settle down is a must. Put 6 months on it and get back to me, its still evolving. This is dessert. Since I travel often, I smoke cigars from all parts of the world and do not believe any one country owns the title. This one is a winner. Other cigars I like, Bolivar Royal Corona, Cohiba Siglo VI, Cohiba Maduro 5 Genios, Davidoff Special R, Double R, Grand Cru, Padron 1964 Anniversario Maduro and Natural, De La Concha Grand Reserve Criollo Torpedo, Partagas Series P No.2.

Padron is my favorite brand and has held that title for years. I look forward to anything new that comes from them, but also wonder if they can continue to outdo themselves. The Maduro 80th Anniversary is exquisite. I've also very much enjoyed the Natural, but the Maduro (being principally a Maduro smoker) is just that much better. I'm earnestly searching for a cigar that is better than this one but thus far I have failed.
