It comes as no surprise that the Oliva Cigars Serie V Melanio Robusto just landed in Cigar Aficionado's Top 10 again for 2016. This cigar masterpiece is hand crafted using expertly fermented Ligero fillers, leaves known for their robust and rich flavor. With a five year honing period, this delectable cigar is a shoo-in to exceed premium cigar smoker's highest expectations. The Serie V is has a full body but comes off smooth on the draw. The long filler tobaccos are a mix of Oliva Nicaraguan Habano that concentrates on the Jalapa region, an area known for a superb leaf. Other great regions also tapped for this selection are Esteli or Condega. This meticulously aged Jalapa blend produces a particularly flavored smoke.

Can’t say enough good about thus cigar. Normally I prefer a bigger cigar like a toro or torpedo, but with this smoke even the corona (#4) and the robusto satisfy. I haven’t really had enough of the maduros to comment, but up to now I prefer the natural Sumatra wrapper.

You look forward to a relaxing hour or so with a good cigar and too often you're disappointed. While the taste is somewhat lacking it's odd that the cheaper cigar I bought, Dom Augusto, has a better draw and burn, however, at least tow of them were broken.

Not much more can be said about this ubiquitous classic. Simply a beautiful cigar from top to bottom. I always try to keep a few of these in my 300 cigar cooler along with the Alec Bradley Prensado and La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor. Though I always have my personal favorite Arturo Fuente offerings (Don Carlos, Hemingway and 8-5-8 Maduro) and a few Cuban Montecristo #2s for special occasions, I have to keep a few of these three cigars in the humi or I feel like I'm missing something. Like going out without a watch on. Eminently affordable in 5-packs, treat yourself to a #1 cigar if you haven't already - you won't regret it for a minute.

For me, the Oliva Serie V Melanio is the perfect cigar for mixed company. Not overwhelming, not tasteless, just a very good cigar to offer friends or to smoke yourself. It has a very distinctive taste that is a flavorful delight with every puff. I always keep this cigar on hand - perfect for any occasion, perfect to relax with. Though I enjoy the Churchill in this mix, the Robusto has the length and size for all social occasions and genders.

What can one say that hasn't already been said? Oliva's primo stick. For some reason, I find the regular V series much stronger. Age perhaps? I always heard this was a strong cigar, but I have no issues with it. This and the Connecticut Reserve are my favorite Oliva smokes.

I've only tried to smoke one from a 5 pack. Couldn't get a draw at all. I finally tore it up to smoke in a pipe, which was not good. There were massive stems in the cigar.

As I commented previously for the Olivia V Robusto Maduro's I purchased at the same time as these Malanios, 1) Oliva V's are my favorite cigars and on that count I give them a 5. 2) However, they are dry as the Sahara and I've but them in a separate humidor at 75% to recover them. Wen I get them in a box, they are good to go. Disappointed in the cellophane wrapped 5 pack as then are dry. I doubt they would dry out so fast just in a 2 days shipping so I would recommend you find a way to keep them from drying out in your warehouse

The robustos I got were well constructed. I’m still a novice when it comes to describing sticks,but I have had a lot of sticks and do have a preference. Melanios are a must-have stick. I prefer the maduro version but either stick is great. Keep an eye out for deals. I got these for about 5 bucks a stick.

I have been smoking cigars for 30 years. For the longest time I only smoked Covina's from Cuba. However the price of Cuban cigars started going up a lot and at the same time the quality went down a lot. The Olivia Melanio is always perfect. The taste is even better than my beloved Cohiba's and through Thompson Cigar I pay $9 a stick or 20% of what you pay for Cuban cigars. I only smoke this cigar

You would be hard pressed to fined a cigar that is so consistently manufactured to taste, feel, burn exactly the same cigar after cigar. Great medium bodied smoke. A lot of toasted nut flavors to me along with a coriander-ish flavor. A lot of earthiness, not a lot of sweetness to me...but very smooth and consistent. It is rare that I break open a box of cigars upon arrival, but for the first time I did with thisbox, and extatic that I did. The cigars were beautifully presented and it was nice to see the Boveda pack in the biotin. These cigars were packaged to enjoy them as soon as they arrived. The quality and clovers of the smoke did not let me down. I enjoyed this cigar from start to finish enjoying the saddle changes as it burned down. I preferred the robusto size of the larger figures.
