For A.J. Fernandez and his father Ismael, 2014 was the year of living fearlessly, as they teamed up to create their first cigar together: the New World Robusto (5 1/2" x 55). Hell-bent on making something truly remarkable, the duo started with Nicaraguan long fillers from Ometepe, Condega, and Esteli, bound it with leaves from Jalapa, and topped it off with a hearty Nicaraguan wrapper. Appropriately named New World for Christopher Columbus' 1492 expedition, the spectacular Nicaraguan puro offers well-balanced elements of sweetness and spice, and an amazing aroma. Cigar Journal named it "Cigar of the Year", but it may well be the cigar of a lifetime.

Very good cigar. Always burns perfectly and I love the taste. Only cigar better is the Perdomo 20th Anniversary Sungrown.

A great medium - full cigar that is just a pleasure to smoke. Wrapper is a dark beauty (almost a maduro) that is without issue. A rich, woody flavor that strong to start with that mellows slightly as you go on! AJ Fernandez did this one right. Every bit as good as most of the $15 - $20 cigars out there. I have smoke this cigar many times and have never been disappointed. This is one of my go to favorites (other Sungrown Maduro RP). Give it a try.

This cigar is one of my favorites. Nutty flavor through the cigar, very smooth smoke and even burn. Firm draw, but expected from a box press cigar. You won't be disappointed.

After enjoying this cigar as a single from various sources, I bought a box. After a brief rest in the humidor, I dived in. They did not disappoint. Best tasting reasonably priced cigar out there! I would take a Padron 1964 over it, but you cannot beat this cigar at this price point.

This is one that I had been eying for some time. I finally bought a box and was not disappointed. New World is so good, I almost burnt my fingers smoking it down so far. It has everything a fine cigar should have, flavor, strength, smoothness, excellent crisp ash, slow even burn, and a great fragrance. What more could a cigar smoker want?

I have been a fan of AJ's other cigars, Man O War, Ruination, San Lotano, but this is now my favorite cigar. I keep a variety of sticks in my coolidor but few boxes. This one I buy by the box. I love the rich flavors, touch of spice and that little kick that comes in near the end. Try the robusto, I am pairing it with Wiseacre's Coffee Milk Stout Ale "Gotta Get Up to Get Down". You would be happy if you bought a box!
