It’s not the cigar. It’s the time it take to get them. I waited 6 months before I got an order. I don’t understand I can buy the in my store. They always have them. But Thompson cigars had a problem with getting them. I’ve been a member for years. Every time I call to get some they tell me that the cigars r on back order.

I smoke 3-5 cigars a day, am I afflicted or fortunate? This cigar is not at the top shelf of the Fuente cigar cabinet, but nonetheless its in there. Tastes clean, creamy, and almost has that carbonated cola sensation around the tongue.

I love the Arturo Fuente 858. It's one of my favorite and most smoked cigars alongside my Partagas Black Labels I smoke too. It's got a chocolaty smoothness with a nice meaty fullness that compliments a coffee, lager, whiskey, or Pepsi perfectly!

Hands down, the best attributes of this cigar are the quality of construction, consistent taste year after year, and value for the money. I have purchased these cigars for many years for both personal enjoyment, and sharing with friends. It is great to share because it is medium bodied, so people who like mild cigars can enjoy it without being overwhelmed, and it delivers enough "punch" for people who prefer stronger cigars. I prefer the Maduro wrapper, but the Sun Grown wrapper is very good as well. I'm not an expert in rating cigars, but can really pick up cedary and nutty flavors in it, and I like the oily wrapper. I call it the "Six Sigma Cigar" because the customer does not detect defects! I can count on one hand the number of 858's that had quality issues over many years (hard draw, inconsistent burn, canoeing, etc.), which is amazing for a product that is made one at time, by hand. Truly one of Fuente's finest, and of course, a great tribute to Arturo Fuente.

I have been smoking 8-5-8's for more than twenty years so that should give you some idea of where I stand. But...recently, over the last couple years, I have been experiencing issues with construction. Specifically, many of the cigars come plugged up. In just last two boxes, I had eight cigars I couldn't smoke and a number of others that were so firm to draw, that I didn't enjoy them. Is this Thompson Cigar's supply or is it Fuente?

I've found that most Fuentes need about an inch of burn to settle in. This one is no exception. The first inch is bitter and strong, but stick with it and it smooths out to a nice smoke, with subtle sweet taste that takes away any bitterness. It smokes like this down to the ring, when it starts getting strong again. But that middle third makes this cigar worth the price. I could smoke these regularly.

This cigar was chosen from the Maduro Madness Sampler, except it is NOT the sampled cigar. None of my chosen cigars can be found from the sampler pack. This Maduro smokes cool and has a nice flavor, but not the earthy, bold taste that I prefer. If the Cusano 18 that was my sampler favorite IS the one I tested, I will buy it next.
