The countdown to the announcement of the 2015 Cigar of the Year has begun. On Monday, December 14th at 10:00am EST, the cigars ranking 10, 9 and 8 in the final list will be announced by Cigar Aficionado. Two more will be announced each day until Friday, December 18th, when the winner will be revealed. The cigars in positions 11-25 will be revealed on Monday December 21st and the Best Bargain Cigars will be added on Tuesday, December 22. All cigars rated 91 or above by Cigar Aficionado and Cigar Insider are judged by a panel of Cigar Aficionado employees in a blind taste test. In addition to taste, complexity, construction, appearance and overall quality are criteria used to select the top 25 finalists. Additional tasting and judging rounds are undertaken until a clear winner emerges. The first "Cigar of the Year," the Padron Series 1926, was named in 2004. The most recent winners include:
