PDR 1878 Cubano Especial Churchill Connecticut (7" x 54) is a beautifully handrolled Dominican cigar that burns a perfectly even medium bodied smoke, blended from small batch Nicaraguan and Dominican long fillers, a Nicaraguan binder, then is finally finished in a gorgeous, light-brown, creamy Connecticut wrapper. Pinar Del Rio Cigars, a small independent boutique factory in the Dominican Republic believes in turning out limited quantities of super high quality cigars and selling only to select retailers, hence why you may have overlooked their phenomenal cigars. A phenomenal cigar to enjoy with a light lager or pilsner during an afternoon lunch.

This cigar checks all the boxes. It has a smooth peppery taste, good smoke, and burns well. I was able to get one on thompson's other site at a good discount I will definitely try more.

A number of these beauties came my way through Thompson Auction at a price point less than half of advertised. Purchased at about $3 you have a great everyday smoke. The cigar presents with a decent Connecticut wrapper that has extra veins but belies the taste to come. These cigars should spend at least three months in your aging humidors before enjoying. The cut of the cap is accomplished with ease and the light is uneventful and even. Initial taste points are of medium pleasant tobacco with background of black pepper and spices. Without aging, I believe most would find the pepper to harsh. The medium effect stays throughout the cigar, with a nice cinnamon and paprika joining the pepper. Burn is razor thin throughout and the draw on this 7" is perfect at slightly firm. The dark grey ash has some flaking and will stay intact to about 1 1/4 inches. The finish is longer but tasty and smoke production is very good. In conclusion, if you can find the PDR 1878 Cubano Especiale Churchill Connecticut at about $3 as I did at auction or on special, stock up. Very satisfy smoke with good flavor. Recommended.

A rexlaing smoke to use while reading easy to light and stayed light thru out the smoke and very easy to draw, no bite in the smoke from start to finish.
