I love the Macanudo product. I started out with a mild cigar with the Cafe and working my way up to the Orange and Red. But the Cru Royale although mild and gentle with a great taste also has a nice slow burn takes about an hour plus to smoke and enjoy it. I recommend this cigar.

These are very good smokes, right down to the end. Some however burn unevenly. Will buy them again.

I no longer use Thompson as a source for cigars. Their customer service was hopeless in resolving an issue where my credit card had been cloned. I tried to order with the new credit card and they would cancel as soon as the online order had been placed. The cigars in this review were dry and obviously not stored properly at Thompson. I have switched to another online vendor and have never been more pleased.

I will admit that I usually prefer a bolder smoke, like a nice, woody, spicy, leathery Nicaraguan (i.e. Joya De Nicaragua Antano 1970, or Perdomo Grand Cru 2006) but the Macanudo Grand Cru was nice change of pace. I have to confess that I usually season my cigars in my humidor for 6-8 weeks before smoking one, gut I really like the look of these beauties, so I lit one up the day that box was delivered, and I wasn't disappointed. I recommend these with a nice Highland Single Malt Scotch, like Glenlivet. My wife, who doesn't smoke, really liked the smell of the cigar while I smoked it. I will be getting another box very soon for myself and couple more for gifts!

The Macanudo Cru Royale Gigante Habano cigars are disappointing. The smoke is acrid, with a harsh inferior taste from beginning to end. This is the Worst Cigar I have ever smoked.

The Cru Royal has a distinct flavor. The box I got had to be very old.

Being newer to smoking more often than just special occasions, I will have to say that this cigar will not let you down. Very easy draw and a superb mild/moderate taste.

I've been looking for a few years for the perfect cigar that has the qualities to be a special occasion cigar, as well as an everyday cigar. This cigar truly strikes that perfect balance. On special occasions I enjoy it with a glass of Kendall-Jackson Red Zin, or on football sunday I'll enjoy it with an ice cold beer. I would highly recommend this cigar for anybody looking for the perfect dual occasion cigar.
