La Moneda Reserva Limitado Robusto Maduro (5" x 50) is a medium bodied masterpiece of a cigar created by none other than by cigar genius Abe Flores, and is for the spotlight! Rich, complex and flavorful, La Moneda is handmade in the beautiful country of the Dominican Republic from a premium small= blend of Nicaraguan, Dominican, and USA long fillers and Dominican Criollo '98 binder, surrounded by a dark, chocolate-brown, oily Maduro wrapper. "La Moneda" means "The Currency" in English, and the exceptionally delicious La Moneda is right on the money for it's flavor and price.

I really liked the way these were packaged and boxed. There were slight imperfections in the wrapper, particularly around the cap, some sharp veins, but nothing that affected the smoke output and quality. Burn gets a little bit wobbly after the first third, might need a re-light, might correct itself. The smoke itself was absolutely mild-to-smooth, a little bit lacking in flavor which was still acceptable. I bought them to smoke 'em one a day, and I've enjoyed every one so far. I'm now shopping for a medium to full-strength cigar for everyday enjoyment.

I normally smoke macanudo Maduro, the Thompson salesman suggested this brand as a great substitute. WRONG! Very bitter taste. Not to my liking but I can't speak for everyone. I'm sure there are some who would not like macanudo Maduro. Individual taste, just not mine.

I bought these because I like a robust Churchill, but mainly to get the ten free PDR cigars. However, i will buy these again. I was concerned at first because the first two were a little harsh and hard to keep lit. But after a few days in the humidor it was a completely different cigar and they have remained consistent. A few minor wrapper imperfections which did not affect the experience. Good draw, plenty of flavor without overwhelming, and slow burning for a grand experience with a book and a scotch (or two) in the evening on the deck. PDR makes 'em but the fact that PDR is in small print on these labels made no difference. The bonus pack and free delivery (bought them with a free delivery promotion) made these an exceptional value, but these can stand on their own. Just let them sit in the humidor a bit and they get better with a little time.

I've been looking for "my" cigar and I think I finally found it. Nice tobacco flavor, the perfect size, the wife enjoys the aroma, what more can I ask for? My only issue with these is that I had a couple of wrappers get a little flaky, but that probably speaks more to my cheap humidor than to the cigar itself...
