2016 #12 Cigar of the Year - Rated 93

Casa Turrent 1901 Robusto Maduro (5 1/4" x 50) is a blend of Mexican and Nicaraguan binders and fillers where the cigar gets most of its medium to full body and flavor, which is finally surrounded by a dark San Andres Maduro wrapper giving it an added sweet taste. Blending together the Nicaraguan and Mexican tobacco gives the cigar the extra body that tends to lack in Mexican tobacco. One of these might change your preconceived notions on Mexican cigars.

Smooth cigar with hints of coffee, wood, and leather, and a light, pleasant, aftertaste. The foot has nice integrity. It's a great cigar to share with friends and paired with scotch or while enjoying a mid morning cup of coffee. It was between an eight and a mine on my personal rating system, but I enjoyed it enough that I rounded up to nine and have reordered a few times.

This thing got tossed out the window of the Jeep so fast it would make your head spin... I don't know how this was rated 94, this stick will take the throat right out of you. NO REDEEMING QUALITIES. Absolutely one of the worst cigars I have ever smoked. Not even in the SAME ROOM as an F55, RP, Aroma De Cuba, Oliva V etc...

This cigar got high marks in a couple of cigar magazines but I wasn't impressed. I had to poke every stick to get a decent draw. A struggle I found not worth the payoff.

I was looking for a replacement for the Montecristo Reserva Negra. I came across these in Cigar Aficionado mag. Looked them up and ordered them. WOW. I just smoked one today. It lit up great and burned even. Tightly rolled but the draw was perfect. about 1/3 of the way through I started to realize I shouldn't be driving anywhere after smoking this cigar. What a kick. It's not for the average cigar smoker. I will only smoke these when I have at least an hour or more to enjoy them. As good as a Pedron - these sticks rock. The other reviewers were right on target. I think they were rated 94 in CA mag.

I have really enjoyed this cigar. The flavor is always good and the cigar burns evenly without a lot of relights. I enjoy this smoke a couple of times a week while sitting on the porch with a glass of good Bourbon.
