Well built

I use this as my primary toasting lighter. It's small enough to keep in your pocket, but has a big enough tank to keep going for a box worth of sticks. Best feature is the all metal construction and doors to protect the jets. Has a stiff, but easily adjustable flame wheel. Only downside is that the fuel tank doesn't go red or blue making it sometimes difficult to check fuel levels.

First one stopped clicking to fire up after one week of use. Thompson Cigar gladly sent me another one to replace it and that was wonderful of them. However this lighter, to me, just has some design flaws. It is a bit difficult to click to light because you have to press on the side vs. from top. It is difficult to bleed because you barely see the butane fill area (it's inside the center of the flame adjuster). It is difficult to see how much butane is available in the glass butane indicator. And, although it has a nice appearance, the rounded edges gives you less control holding on to it while lighting a cigar.

I purchased this lighter about 2 years ago when it was named the XTX and really like it when it actually works. However, I have had multiple issues that have required me to utilize the Xikar warranty: 1) The first lighter that I had (XTX) worked for about 8 months before the ignition coil became loose and caused the ignition spark to arc to the body of the lighter rather than to the jets. I tried adjusting it, but it was so loose that it would just move around. I sent it in to Xikar and they sent me a brand new Allume since they no longer made the XTX. The Allume is supposed to be a new and improved version of the XTX. 2) The new Allume lighter that Xikar sent worked for about 6 months before the 2 small "doors" that protect the burners when the lighter is not in use got stuck in the open position and refused to close. The lighter itself still worked, but I still decided to send it in to Xikar and they sent me another new Allume. 3) Fast forward to today, the most recent issue that I had was with the side trigger mechanism. It became increasingly difficult to depress the trigger enough to get the lighter to work so, yet again, I sent it in to Xikar. I just received an email notification that they have replaced my lighter and will be sending it back to me so I really hope that I have better luck with this one... I definitely can't recommend this lighter. I have multiple other Xikar products and have not had any issues with any of them, but I have had to send this lighter in on 3 different occasions for 3 different issues. The only saving grace with this lighter is that Xikar stands by their lifetime warranty and have replaced it every time I have had issues and sent it in.

Reliable lighter and looks sharp. I prefer 3 burners however this is very sufficient and will light any of your cigars.
