RP Vintage 1990 is among the worst cigars I've ever tried to smoke (at any price). It looks very pretty from the outside, but RP puts little tobacco inside. What little smoke you're left with is bitter and more like a cheap cheroot. After the first 1/2 inch, the tobacco disappears and you get something like dry oak leaves that can't be re-lit with a blow torch. At $8-9.00 a pop, this one is definitely a ripoff. I am surprised Rocky would sell a cigar this bad.

Only got one of these in a sampler. I tend to like milder cigars and am hit or miss with maduros. This one - flavor-wise - was a hit. Nice full flavor with a hint of sweetness that i could detect in my nose, almost as if it was rising off the non-burning part of the wrapper. It also had some peaty undertones, reminding me of a glass of scotch. The wrapper had some serious issues, with a spiraling portion that just would not burn, requiring a lot of tinkering to get through the entire cigar, which kind of spoiled the experience and led me to the three star rating. Perhaps the single I received was a a bad one and given the opportunity to smoke another, it would have a more consistent burn. The price definitely makes this one special occasion, or at least a once-in-a-while smoke.
