2015 Cigar of the Year - Rated 97

My Father Bijou 1922 Torpedo Box Pressed (6 1/8" x 52) is another knock-out cigar by the cigar geniuses at the My Father Factory in Nicaragua. "Bijou" means "jewel" in French, which is a fitting name for this stellar cigar. So good, in fact, that Cigar Aficionado just announced it as the 2015 Cigar of the Year with an incredible 97 Rating! The tasty blend is formed with Nicaraguan long fillers and an Ecuadorian Habano Osucuro wrapper - another memorable blend from the Pepin Garcia family.

This cigar is the foulest I have ever smoked. I suppose that others might well have gotten a better batch than I, but the one that I smoked had all the flavor of a white owl with none of the quality. Do yourself a favor and find a single before you buy this cigar. It is truly awful.

Good smoke. I would not say this a 97 rated cigar though (maybe with a little age ?). It is full bodied and flavorful but can have some harsh notes (which is why not a 97). Having said all that I think it is good full cigar and I enjoy it. I feel that the cigar is priced right for the experience.

I buy about 2 boxes a year. And 4 five pack fever each month. I know a good cigar. This is about as good as it gets. Definitely saving for great weather to sit on the deck.

Draw and burn are fine. Im hoping the flavors come alive after some time in the humidor.

Awesome cigar! The only critique would be an uneven burn but not terribly uneven.

I would smoke this everyday if I could, but I can't burn up money like that. It's a once in awhile treat that you'll really enjoy; I sure did. Great flavor and an easy draw.

The My Father Le Bijou 1922 Box Pressed Torpedo Natural has great flavors that linger pleasantly on the palate. They are full bodied cigars lovingly handmade in Nicaragua. One can appreciate that the Garcia family has created an admirable cigar as a tribute to their father Pepin Garcia. Le Bijou's construction is firm and the ash holds it shape without burning hot. The flavors are exquisite, communicating supernatural notions of delectable leather, as well as sweet-and-salty dark chocolate-covered raisins. The Jewel's essences are creamy, intricate, and amicable. This puro requires a relaxed and leisurely smoke to be relished to the fullest expression of it's flawless promise.

Bought a box for a week long cruise. A daily Oliva smoker, I wanted to add to my inventory for my cruise with friends so I tried this one. The draw is absolute perfection and the flavor and burn are consistent time after time. While I prefer a more robust cigar, this one is nice with a rich flavor.

Although not a cheap cigar if you can afford it you'll want to smoke one every day. This has become one of my absolute favorites. It will never disappoint and lives up to its 97 rating.

Great smoke, cool draw and full of flavor without being biter, just keeps getting better the more you smoke!

This is one of best full-bodied cigars I have smoked, a personal opinion supported by a 97-point rating from the critics. So, when I had to find a gift for my buddy who has everything, a box of Bijou's seemed fitting. Even the white cigar box is classy. It does not hurt that he will inevitably share his gift cigars with me.

I think this tops a very short list of the five best commercially available cigars in the world, along with the Oliva Serie V Melanio Gran Reserva Limitada Figurado Sumatra. Beginners (anyone who has not smoked this particular cigar) may find it needs to be coaxed a bit, with a couple of corrections and possibly even a relight or two, but after smoking a few of these cigars, progressing far enough on the learning curve, and getting used to how they burn, absolutely stratospheric.

I would not purchase this cigar again. I was intrigued by the 97 rating but was disappointed in the flavor. Not a nice smoke for me. Smoke this one in Toro which was much better and not harsh at all. Flavor was very harsh and not pleasant at all. Construction was good, burn was good, draw was good. Flavor was very bad.

Wow did this smoke live up to the hype. It's got it all. Big flavor profile, easy draw with a medium body rich smoke. I could get used to this even though I personally think of this as a treat, not a day to day cigar. Watch out, you'll be spoiled!

I keep buying My Father Le Bijou 1922 Torpedoes because of it's exceptional taste and aroma. Many cigars feel like they are coming apart half way through smoking, but La Bijou 1922 has wrapper that stays secure the entire time. But the best thing about the 1922 though is the taste of wrapper; as you smoke the wrapper develops a pleasantly sweet taste. You've got to try a 1922.

Very disappointed. Wouldn't stay lit, and had an uneven burn. Had a harsh flavor that reappeared a few times. Eventually gave up. Normally would just toss it but for once decided to send it back for a refund.

Very smooth and creamy taste. Better than any similar rated Cuban that I have tried. Very good price for a 97 rated cigar I have smoked including Habanos.

Great stick for the first 1/3. Perfect burn and nice white ash. Then the flavor changes and while still good - not as enjoyable as first light. A little pricey. My Father has better cigars for better value. Packaging was pristine and it looks like the Holy Grail of cigars - but I would only give it a 90,

If someone likes the flavor, it is a very fine cigar. However, I had not tasted the "pepper" that folks talk about in cigars until this one. And man was it strong. There's also a nasty kind of rotten flavor. I liked the shape, draw, construction, etc., but not the flavor. I am by no means a seasoned smoker as it was probably my 10th cigar in my life. But I was taken aback by how difficult it was to manage that flavor. Maybe one day. But not today.

The better purchase of this items regarding quality in just my opinion was at the store in Tampa purchasing a "few" to try. Service there is EXCELLENT! Was not that impressed with the box purchase as the wrapper was much darker then those purchased in my trial of the sticks in Tampa. Nothing against this cigar but I now enjoy Clones much more and are saving these perhaps for a rainy day.

This is a lovely cigar, good value, perfect construction/draw. The first third is a good smoke but nothing exciting. The middle third has so many flavors but somehow never develops into the 'holy cow' mouthful you would expect. The final third becomes a bit overwhelming early on but is still good. Compare this to the Padron 45 - perfect construction, full but never harsh, starts great - develops into something even greater - a definite 'wow'. Price wise, they are in two very different leagues, of course. However, just judging the smoke - the 45 is hands down the winner.

As the title says this cigar is something special. I must say I am becoming a big fan of my father cigars real fast! This cigar is everything you want in a cigar...flavor...check, perfect draw...check, medium on the front half to full bodied on the back half...check, spicey but balanced...check you get the picture. I haven't had a cigar kick my butt in a while and this thing takes off so hold on your gonna love it! Everyone would love this cigar if your worried about price don't be it's worth every penny! Enjoy!

I have to say this is now my favorite cigar. I don't always agree with the ratings from Cigar Aficionado but in this case, they got it right! A very nice well rounded bold cigar from start to finish. Perfect. This would be my everyday cigar except for the price. But these will be coming out on more than just special occasions!

Let me start by saying that I am a huge "My Father" fan. The Flor De Las Antillas is a go-to stick for me and is probably my favorite cigar right now. I am also a huge fan of the La Aroma De Cuba line which is also from the House of Garcia. After seeing the most recent Top 25 come out from Cigar Aficionado, I was anxious to try the Le Bijou. I did appreciate the strength of this cigar, but was overall a little disappointed and, frankly, surprised that it received such a high rating from CA. It wasn't terrible, but it absolutely doesn't compare to the two cigars already mentioned above, nor last year's cigar of the year, the Oliva Serie V Melanio figurado (another simply outstanding cigar). While I find this cigar worth the try, I am very surprised at the 97 rating and the #1 ranking. Perhaps I'll give it another try down the road, but my first experience did not match the expectation one would have when smoking a 97-rated cigar.
