The Macanudo Especiale Torpedo Habano is a limited production blend with an high level of complexity and flavor that makes it stand out within the Macanudo family. For this selection three countries were tapped for some of their highest quality tobacco leaf (Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, and Mexico). Continuing with the theme of greatness, a delectable double binder from Honduras and the Dominican Republic was selected. They then finish it off with a classic, ultra-premium Habano wrapper. The result is one stunner of a smoke, three long years in the making.

I've smoked two so far on the golf course and had a draw problem with both. Had to re-light almost every hole. Nice rich flavor, but frustrating.

Good smoke, arrived well packaged. I removed ALL cellophane wrappers as they will dry out in the best of humidors if left on.

Tried this as a 5 pack and loved them. Resulted in me ordering a box and this has now become an everyday cigar.

Flavors are great with good transitions and good draw, however the construction is not up to par. Burns unevenly and needs a lot of attention to keep it burning nicely. Other than that, it is a nice smoke.

in general, I like the macanudo brand. However, the torpedo has about a 20% issue rating: hard draw or wrapper comes off. In my experience (2 to 3 a day), these issues are found more in the torpedo than the churchill.

I was really excited to try this smoke. It was the last of the shameless bribe sampler, and naturally, had rested for the longest time -- over a month. The construction seemed great, with no soft spots, and no wrapper issues. The cold draw was also very easy and comfortable. Immediately after lighting, I noticed a nice cherry covering the filler, but the binder and wrapper did not light. The flavor was very mild, and the blend reminded me of latrines -- not a pleasant taste. The cigar started canoeing almost immediately, and the first half was a constant battle to keep it lit. Even after finally restoring the burn line, runners continued to give me issues. The cigar also became plugged during the first third, and the draw became difficultly uncomfortable for the rest of the stick. The constant burn issues distracted me from properly sampling and enjoying the flavor, leading to an overall unpleasant experience. I have smoked many other sticks regarded as second grade, which gave me a much more pleasant experience. This Macanudo is not worth the fuss. I'd rather smoke a Don Chuchu instead.

Received this in a premium sampler. I enjoyed this smoke immensely. My only complaint was that about 1/3 of the way through, the wrapper came a little loose. This was my first torpedo, but I think I got a good cut using a double-bladed guillotine. Other than that. Outstanding. Great mouthfeel. Consistent burn. Beautiful ash. Nice flavor without being overwhelming. I'd definitely revisit this cigar.

The first thing I noticed was the tight and flawless construction of the cigar. I was just a bit concerned that this may affect the draw. I was pleased to discover a smooth easy and smoke filled draw. Flavors were of a medium body with no overbearing sweet or pepper flavors. A hint of a nutty almond flavor at the finish was very pleasant.

Cigar rolled too tight at the torpedo end creating an unpleasant experience and a poor draw. Other than construction issues this was a nice cigar.

I was excited to get this in Thompson's Shameless Bribe Sampler pack. It was my understanding that Macanudo is one of the top premier manufacturers in the world. I learned a good lesson: Sometimes a reputation is just a reputation. The Torpedo wrapper appeared flawless, and the Torpedo shape was comfortable to hold and smoke. It lit easily, and the first 1/3 was wonderful, other than some uneven burning, which got worse as the smoke progressed. The flavor was nice and neutral, not sweet, and not bitter, and just a little tart, with overtones of fresh ground black pepper. It had a nice draw, and I was really enjoying the smoke up to this point. The problems really kicked in on the second 1/3rd of the smoke. The runners became so bad that I was having to re-lite one side of it after every 3 or 4 puffs. Just before it reached the last 1/3rd, the cigar became totally plugged, and went out. The damage was irreparable, so I did not get to finish the smoke. I had high hopes for this cigar, and I expected a lot better from a company with Macanudo's reputation. I am hoping that maybe this was just a factory glitch. Only time will tell.......because it will be awhile before I try another Macanudo.

Maybe I'm spoiled due to the fact that my go to cigar of choice being any Padron, preferably the 1964. To me, this cigar was just average. The first third was a cool snoke, medium simple peppery flavor. The flavors became stronger and more harsh during the second and last third until I eventually put it down. Possibly one bad stick out of a bundle.

EXCELLENT cigar! Light bodied, super smooth, very rich tobacco flavors. Lightly savory with minimal tangy and peppery taste. Sweet tobacco flavors and aroma without being overly sweet. Very well balanced and consistent throughout. The perfect early morning cigar. Just superb! If only they were a bit cheaper, they would be my regular smoke.

Okay on the golf course. It's mild but the taste and aroma is very average, perhaps approaching average. I do like the torpedo tip because you can adjust the draw when you clip it. The ash burns fine. It has a mild woody flavor. Nothing special about this Especial.
