Hoyo de Monterrey La Amistad Silver Robusto Habano Ecuadorian cigars (5" x 50) were introduced at the 2017 IPCPR and were a welcomed sight for Fernadez fan. This full-bodied blend is made with fillers from AJ's own farms along with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. In case you've been living under a rock, AJ Fernandez has been involved in projects with the biggest brands in the world. Everything he gets his hands on is instant gold. Or should we say, "Silver"!

Ordered the Robusto (my favorite size), right off the bat, bold (BOOM!), rich (BAM!), spicy (Ka-POW!), in-your-face flavors which pretty much stay that way right to the end. As is common with many Nicaraguan sticks, it has a strong earthy platform from which blasts of black pepper are expelled on your inhale and Jedi light saber shards of red pepper on your retrohale, this smoke is not intended for tenderfoots ... um, not that there's anything wrong with that, lol. The earth and the pepper mesh really well together. It has a long, LONG finish which transitions to a faint, distant, velvety creaminess when the pepper subsides if you're patient enough to wait for it. I would really rate this cigar 4-1/2 stars but I couldn't give it 5-Stars for one reason only, lack of transition. It's a great tasting cigar, I have one just about everyday, but it only has one gear. But if you're lucky enough to enjoy that gear, you're in store for quite a ride.
