The draw is consistent. Good flavor. Consistent burn. Not a high end premium, but a good smoke.

1st time purchase of this cigar, never tried it before but do know that AJ Fernandez makes darn good cigars. bought these because the were on special w/free shipping and took the chance with a box, should have bought a couple boxes at the price. Highly recommend if you like the Toro Habano's like I do. Every thing about it is great and am down to 10 of the 16 from the box that I received a few days ago.

Wonderful in the evening when the daylight is just fading in the evening with a glass of bullett burban over ice shaken.

I fell in love with this stick when I first got a wiff of it's flavor upon first opening the box it was shipped in with a few other cigars. It stood out heads and above the other 5 I had ordered. The cold draw was just as flavorful. The lighting was easy, and there was only a small amount of touch up needed. It went out a few times but that was me leaving it unattended for a few 10 mins segments. The wrapper had a few problems and I've read some reviews that blame the box press for these imperfections. I'll leave it at that. The first 2/3rd were very pleasant but the last 1/3rd was a bit harsh. I will buy a few more for when I want to enjoy a 2 hour smoke. Rated a medium, after a month in my humidor it was a bit stronger more like a medium+ or towards a medium-full smoke. A.J. has done it again.

I found this cigar to be rather less flavorful as the Maduro. I'll give it another try at some point.

This cigar has been a very nice surprise. I expected a good cigar, but not this good. The burn is always consistent, draw good, and flavor pleasing. The first few I had were so pleasing that I bought a box, something I don't usually do. Very nicely done.

Let me preface this by saying that I love AJ Fernandez's blends. I feel he is without a doubt one of the most talented blenders, bar none. That doesn't mean ol' AJ is getting a free pass from me. Uh-uh. Let's see if he lets me down. At first blush, this is a handsome gal. The band is monstrous, spanning about 40 percent of the cigar's length at it's widest. It is stately, even if it is billboard-esque. I opted for the Habano jacket which was smooth, with a very slight sheen and very little tooth. There were veins aplenty, but they were relatively small and smooth. The seams were mostly tight and the box press was pleasing to the eye and hand. The shaft had a slightly tobacco scent along with a graham cracker aroma and the slightest hint of dried fruit. Interesting. The foot echoed those fragrances, but with a more pronounced dried cherry effect and a soft hay component. After letting the Empress unwind and for a couple of weeks in a humidor and a dry-boxing of 2 days, I proceeded to perform a straight cut. The draw was what I prefer in a cigar. A free-flowing pull with just a little bit of resistance. The cold draw hit me with mostly hay and dried fruit. Deal me in, Mr. Fernandez! It lit perfectly and burned requiring no major corrections. The line went astray once or thrice, not uncommon with box-pressed sticks in my experience, but it never went far or for very long as it self-corrected admirably. This cigar held my interest from joyous beginning to lamentable end. Lamentable, only because it was ending. On full display were the coffee, pepper spice and coffee notes, to varying degrees, that I associate so often with AJ's work. This medium strength and medium-full bodied smoke brings the flavor and it's no wallflower in the complexity department, either. Search the long finish and you'll find those dried fruit touches dancing with a peppery zing. A roasted nut note came to the party in the last third and this is one creamy Empress, to boot. Well done!

I have been smoking hand made cigars for nearly 30 years. I have never been disapionted by A J Fernandez cigars and these are some of his best. flavors of black pepper in the nose, black coffee, and spice. I am on my second box and will buy more.
