Works like a charm for the price! This is my first digital humidifier and it's super simple to use. Fits perfect into my cigar humidor and is easy to move and replace the battery! It came with double sided sticky tape if i wanted it mounted and that also works like a charm! I recommend this product to any first time smokers or veterans to tobacco.

When bought on sale the price was most fair. “Wet salt test” showed Accuracy to about 4% out of the box. Will buy again. Could be a little smaller.

This rating is for Thompson Cust. Serv NOT the hydrometer. Never received it after ordering it twice. First time the box arrived timely BUT busted and empty. Stuff happens so I reorder on 11/25 notified it shipped on 11/27 but in a couple of days I was notified by tracking that it was delivered to Summerduck, Va but I live in NC. I order from Thompson often enough. On about 12/8 Was told by Thompson Cust. Serv. that Thompson was have internal tracking issues and give it to 12/15 or 17 days which normally takes +/- 5 days to my home. Feel I was given Preverbial run around. Still no product. I did the salt calibration test just to make sure it was calibrated from the factory like it should be. The test read a perfect 75% when finished. These are dead on accurate and precise. I bought another one. I have had hygrometers that cost twice this much and were 3-5 points off consistently!

Have been using this product for almost a month and cannot get the hygrometer to read accurately. Temp gauge seems to be ok...the reason for 2 stars only the temp gauge seems to be working. Wouldn't recommend this.

Great product

This thing just won't accurately read humidity levels. It is the exact same unit "manufactured" by a bunch of other companies but this one somehow seems to be of even lower quality than all the other lowest quality units made in China by the same manufacturer.

It works great but the biggest issue with this hygrometer is installing the battery because the two metal contacts are so close together that the battery goes on the top or bottom of both and the unit will not work. You must get the battery between the metal contacts so there is a metal contact on the top and the other on the bottom of the battery. If you can make that happen the unit will work great for you and for the low price (got mine on sale)you can't go wrong.

I got this in and did a salt calibration test on it. It fluctuated between 54% and 74% over 4 days of sitting so its nothing I would ever rely on. Im in the process of an exchange, but seems the other reviews are prob right so I dont have high expectations. The temp did work your though.

I was hoping the people that had problems with this didn't know how to test it right but sadly I found on a salt brine test its reading 6% low after just over 24 hours sitting. I mentioned it to customer service when I was calling with another question and they said that its good. It is sort of scary they didn't know that it needs to read 75% for the test. I will prob call them tomorrow and try for a exchange but the reviews state often its just a very poor hygrometer and they keep having the same issue. I could just always figure its 6% higher then it reads but that kills the point of having it in the first place and would just be unreliable and risk ruining a large value of what I store in my humidor.

This unit functioned for about a week... I suspected it wasn't correct but after a week it started saying 99% humidity and wouldn't change no matter where I put it. I took out the battery a few times hoping it would reset itself since its electronic but no luck. I even tried drying it out in a dry unseasoned humidor for a few days but still 99%... so, its cheap but its "cheap".... you get what you pay for.

The hygrometer works as advertised, but I had to glue the magnet to the device. Seems to be accurate enough for general use.

Use one in the top & one in the bottom of my Lucky 7. It's very accurate.

The battery died within 48 hours. Thompson was kind enough to replace the hygrometer but I subsequently found another and use the replacement as a secondary backup. Seems to be relatively accurate.

I've tried using the salt test on this product several times but can't get an accurate reading. I have the round digital style hygrometer that allows you to adjust the humidity level. This one will read 15 degrees different than other ones right next to it. Would not purchase again.

Needs a stand

Bought this hydrometer thinking that it would be a great replacement for the analog hydrometer on my humidor (seeing as 90% of the reviews stated problems with inaccurate analog hydrometers). However after a few weeks of use, the opposite is true. The analog one reads a constant 68%-69% whereas the digital one hovers around 61%. I do believe I have seasoned my humidor properly so there should be no reason for this sizable gap in humidity readings to occur.

I purchased this hydrometer for my large humidor with about 100 cigars in it. It feels great to know my cigars are being kept at the perfect humidity and temp. I don't want to ruin my premium smokes. This thing does the job and let's me know when I need to recharge my humidifier.

First one I received only read 45% upon performing the salt test. Thompson was great in allowing me to return item and they promptly sent me a replacement. Replacement still inaccurate 6-8% when performing salt test. Can not calibrate hygrometer.

I calibrated this along with two other analog hygrometers I have using the salt method and it was off by 25%! Furthermore, it is not adjustable, so it's terribly inconvenient. I think I'll stick to the easily adjustable analog hygrometers. At least I bought it on the auction site so I didn't pay full price.

I use it in my 150 count humidor..it's been perfect

Bought becuase of it small size and inexpensive cost. The plastic screen fell off after about 6 months on one and a year for the other one I own. Worked great until the battery needed replacent. Now can not seem to calibrate the hygrometer reading for humidity.

I use this with my Thompson Lucky 7 humidor. This product is needed for checking the humidity from drawer to drawer, or to get a better reading on any humidor.

Pull the plastic stub from the battery and it works. Then affix the metal plate to inside of humidor lid, place hygrometer on plate, close lid on humidor.

I thought this product would be a nice addition to my smaller humidors since it is so thin; it is at least 20 points inaccurate however. I cann't use it. Don't buy this unit. I shouldn't have.

It took over 2 weeks for the humidity level to get into to low 70..stayed at 99% for over a week. Did "how to" and it has finally started to register 69-75%.

When I put it in my humidor, it went straight to 50%. I re-seasoned my humidor, since the gauge had to be right since it was new. Still couldn't get it above 55%. took it to my local smoke shop left it over night, and it showed only 50%, unable to calibrate. total waste of time. Just junk.

If you own a humador and have as much invested in your smokes as I do, you need a good hygrometer to protect your investment. Don't let your smokes dry out or mold. This is a must have for anyone who appreciates good cigars.

Although I think these are much more accurate than the analog hygrometers, I question the accuracy of these devices. I have three of these, and to test their consistency I placed all three in one of my humidors. After a couple hours I checked on them, and to my dismay none of them had the same reading. One read 60%, one read 72%, and the other read 78%. The temperature reading were similarly inconsistent.

Okay so I'm using the Analog hygrometer on the Art Deco 60 humidor (sold here), a digital temperature/hygrometer by Meade Instruments (TM005X-M) and THIS cheap sucker. My analog will consistently read 67-70% rH, Meade Instruments is a solid 70%, and THIS cheap sucker reads about 59-61%. Heck, I did the salt test twice, even blew into the bag and sealed it one time. It will NOT go above 89% rH. So I'm convinced it is permanently off by 10-11% and there is NO way to adjust it. Lemon? Perhaps. But I would stay away from it. It looks and feels cheap and didn't work from day 1.

Hygrometer works well, as expected.

Works great right out of the box. I didn't trust the calibration, so I set it in a zip lock bag with a Boveda 75.5% pack for 4 days. To my surprise, it was calibrated perfectly and required no adjustment. Yours may not be the same though, so don't take my words for it, test it yourself.

THE PRODUCT WAS PURCHASED ON 1/31/2013 AND HAS BEEN WORKING PERFECT UP TO 1 WEEK AGO. THE TEMPREADINGS ARE PERFECT AT ALL TIMES, BUT THE HUMIDITY READINGS WERE NOT. THE HUMIDITY READINGS CONTINUED TO DROP DOWN TO 54% AS OF 3/7, BUT THE ANALOG METER THAT CAME WITH THE HUMIDOR READS 72%. THE HUMIDIFIER IS FULLY CHARGED AND WAS CHECKED WITH THESE READINGS BEING INACCURATE. THE MAGNET ADHESIVES NEVER DID STAY ATTACHED TO THE BACK OF THE UNIT FROM DAY 1 BUT THAT WAS THE LEAST OF THE PROBLEMS. I AM ANXIOUS TO SEE WHAT THOMPSON WILL DO ABOUT THIS UNIT ALTHOUGH, THIS IS THE 3RD TIME SOMETHING WENT WRONG AS A DEFECTIVE ITEM AND I AM TIRED OF IT. I MAY STICK WITH ANOTHER COMPANY AFTER THIS IS RESOLVE, THAT IS, IF IT DOES GET RESOLVE.

We originally had a dial hygrometer in the humidor that seemed much less accurate and took a lot longer to give a reading. This is a great help to make sure your cigars are protected.

I've got this in my 20ct humidor, trying to keep it attached to the underside of the lid. the magnet that came with it will hold to the metal receiver attached to the lid, but the adhesive won't adhere solidly enough to the hygrometer. Some super glue should remedy that problem. Other than that I have no complaints.

I got this in my humidor and salt tested it. It is off by 4-5% and fluxuates. I ordered the slim hygroset so at least if that is off (but it says 1% accurate) I can set it. This one offers no way to do that so I wrote it on a piece of tape. Not upset since this was a incuded item, but for the same price you can get any of the settable oones and be better off. Also, I don't even see a spec on the accuarcy.

Use it to validate the mechanical hygormeter on the front of my humidor. They tend to read within 1-2%. Makes me more confident in the readings of both.

I got this mainly for its thermometer but also to back up my analogue hygrometer. Thompson's website doesn't mention the margin of error for the temperature or the humidity (+/- 5 degrees or % humidity) but they are written in the inadequate instructions leaflet included. The temp is only barely within the MOE on my unit (-4 degrees) and the humidity is WAY off (-9% compared to a calibrated analogue). If I were a serious cigar retailer, I wouldn't sell something that was +/-5 anything! If you normally keep your cigars at 67% humididty and this thing is reading 62%, you're going to have a dried out cigar. If you keep them around 73 degrees and the actual temp is 78 - beetles. No - I don't recommend this one. Spend the money for a good one. I can't even return it because the cost of shipping it back for a refund would only nearly break even.

I bought 2 of these hygrometers and there is a difference of about 15% between the 2 of them. Also, they don't match the reading on the analog hygrometers which came with the humidors. They can't be adjusted, so you're stuck with at least one of them that reads incorrectly.

Well worth the [$]

I got this hygrometer about a month ago and it fits my smaller secondary humidor perfectly. Installation is a snap. Although it is too soon to evaluate its long-term performance, it is staying where I put it (on the inside of the lid) and always provides the temperature and humidity. The display is clearly visible and of good size, so I can read it at a glance, and not have to keep the humidor open.

Works everytime unlike those pieces of junk that come with the humidors. I recomend a digital for every humidor

I do not like this hygrometer, because it does not have a way to calibrate it. If you run the salt test on it you are forced to remember how much off it is off and the one I own is off by 3-4%.

The hydrogmeter works perfectly however the metal backing did fall of once but that was fixed with a little supper glue.

It was easy to set up, and it much easier to tell when the Humidor is ready for use. We have one humidor for our company's "Cigar night" and we always order from Thompson, because their products are priced well, and delivered even to a war zone quickly and in great shape. I bought 10 of these hygrometers. I seasoned every one of them with a Boveda Calibration Packet. The readings were all off. Temperature never went higher than 73 degrees and the RH never reached higher than 61%. Stay clear of this junk!

Junk! Received my first one and wrote a poor review. Thompson sent a replacement free of charge. The replacement worked for one day, went blank for two then started working again...for about three weeks. Now it is blank. A new battery does nothing. A waste of money! This came in a combo deal with the gel jars and fluid.

1st hygro I had worked for about 2 months intermittently, was sent a second one and it never really worked at all, better to spend a lil more money and get what works.

Thought this would be a great addition, and it was for a day. Worked great, however the next morning, it wasn't working. Replaced the battery and it worked for 5 minutes. Portions of the display stay lit even when the battery is removed.

First one did not work at all. [...] New one works except reading consistently around 45% when all of my calibrated dial hygrometers read 70% in same humidor.

This hygrometer is way off. I thought digital ones were supposed to be so accurate. I have an analog one that I calibrated using the salt solution method and it's only off by 1. I guess I'll keep using that one.

Bought two and calibrated humidity by salt method. #1 read after two days 84%. #2 read 70%. Both should have read 75%. So I marked the difference on small pieces of paper and stuck the paper with tape on the front. The temps are spot on. You will have to calibrate the humidity yourself and there is no adjustment. Better to buy 4 cheap small cheap box store digital hygrometers for the same as two, and calibrate them. They are just as inaccurate out of the box, but far cheaper. However: In any case, you will have to calibrate any hygrometer you buy from anyone, no matter what the price.

I bought this for my husband and at first I was embarrassed it didn't work I had to go to 3 stores to find new batteries for it.

This.product never calibrated.and would not adjust temp or humidity accurately. [...] received a replacement. However, I was food a half dozen times. Sir, did you remove the plastic tab? This product should auto calibrate. Did you read directions? Yes thank you. I would not recommend this product. I am zero for two on this adventure.

I purchased this unit after looking through literally a dozen digital hygrometers. All of them seemed to have the exact same features as this one for a higher price. I purchased this unit and I am very pleased. It worked right out of the box and helped me diagnose some humidity problems in my humidor. You don't have to "adjust" this model - because it comes calibrated from the factory - which is how a digital hygrometer SHOULD come to you! This is the only digital hygrometer product I will be using in my humdidors!

I had one of these in one humidor, bought more for all my humidors total4. They work great. Humidity and temp. remain perfect.

This is my second review of this production and my second Hygrometer. I sent back the first one because the humitidy was off by 18 units but the temperature is accurate. I just recieved a replacement unit and this one appears to be no better, and is off my many many units. Who is calibrating these? Poor Quality Assurance for sure. Thompson's should stop selling and putting there name on these. I don't know if they are malfunctioning due to shipping as they come in a box way oversized for the unit and is not secured at all. So it undoubtly is bounced around during transit. I will be returning this one and going with a non-digital hygrometer that I can manually calibrate. I would not recomend this unit for your hydrometer. You can use the number that appears after you attempt to calibrate it but who wants to be off by so many units? This is my honest opinion of the unit I see not everyone has had similar results so you can make your own decision based on your readings here. I wish I would have read the reviews first.

Product was great,low maintenance.

I was excited when the device showed up. Placed it in my humidor and low humidy readings. Tested the unit with 2 other friends with calibrated Hygrometers and this device is way off on Humidity. did the Salt test and not even close. Very disappointed and need to return it. I hope the replacement is better quality and more reliable and accurate for a digital device. Who's doing the QA on these devices before they ship. Are they even tested? I must be honest and say I would not feel comfortable recommending to a friend based on my experience alone. They should be tested before shipping.

When I first put this unit in one of my humidors, I was surprised by the low readings (50% humidity) as I had just added solution. When the readings did not improve overnight, I put it in another humidor with a digital unit and an analogue unit (3 separate hygrometers) to test its accuracy. And yes, I actually have an accurate analogue hygrometer that is properly calibrated. Temperature was solid on the Thompson unit, but humidity readings were in the low 50's where the other two units read 65% on the nose. A 10-15 unit variance is unacceptable: I don't know what they use to calibrate these at the factory, but quality control is obviously a concern.

currently own a hygroset 2 and caliber 3. purchased this hygrometer on special and reviews, size made it a must purchase for my third humidor. After 3 "salt tests" leaving all hygrometers over 24 hours, my original two were off 2% under each. The new one was off 10%-12%! Worst than the analog hygrometers my humidors came with. I finally bought myself a calibrating Xikar hygrometer. Seems to be a defect since i never got a comment from Thompsoncigar.

A necessity for every humidor

Those pretty analog hygrometers that come with humidors are decorative, but they must be calibrated. If not calibrated, they could be inaccurate enough to ruin your cigars. Digital hygrometers should not need calibration. My suggestion is to calibrate the hygrometer that comes with the humidor then spend a few extra dollars on the digital unit just to make sure.

it is frustrating to use this product as i have discovered that they are not accurate. I have several of these and discovered they can be as much as 22 degrees off. And yes, i have conducted enuff experiments to satisfy myself that they are not accurate.

I bought this hygrometer for my new humidor i was getting for christmas from my wife. I liked the size, product info and price. I performed the "salt test" to find out the base line humidity of my older hygrometers: Xikar and CaliberIII Digital Hygrometers. After multiple tests leaving the 3 in a ziplock bag for 3-4 days to stabilize the air, my new hygrometer was off 13%. My other 2 hygrometers were off 2% and 3% respectively. Maybe I got a defective[...]

My comment is about your cigars and when you say there mild and there not , it cost me money to ship them back . If you would like me to try out differant cigars and there not what you say they are , I should not have to pay shipping cost twice like your iguana cigars are said to be mild in your magazine and there far from it ,and being a cigar member has not saved me a dime.

Buy a one...if you don't want the humidor solution fine... You need a digital hygrometer. You will learn straight away,that your classic cool looking hygrometer is off by as much as 20%

Put it in my Humidore to monitor humidity. It says it is accurate to +/- 5% humidity. Mine reads about 65% most of the time. + or - 5% from 65% is either good or bad, wish i knew how accurate it really is. Overall it gives me a pretty good idea and I can monitor it on a daily basis.

The unit provided a reading that was off by as much a 10% in the humidity reading (10% low). I perchased another unit via [...] to replace it.

Product cost $17.00, but battery that came with it was dead, which added $6.00, or over 1/3 to the cost

Great tool-works flawlessly. Anyone with a humidor should have one because the hygrometers that come with the humidors are worthless. Acurate readings save you time and money.

Read the directions, tested it to ensure its accuracy and tossed it in the humidor. Great price and a great hygrometer. Takes very little room in the humi as well!!

I didn't know what to expect. It works great for someone who is new to the game.

The small size makes it very usefull in any size box, and it is much easyer use than the other styles.

Worked as advertised. Simple display, easy to read and brought to light that my humidor is a tad to dry. Worth the investment if you're storing higher dollar cigars.

A must have product for the cigar collector. This unit is not 100% accurate straight out of the box. Might be a couple percentages off, up or down on the humidity reading. This is easly taken into account by doing the salt test and recording the results. I have 3 of these units and plan to get a couple more!

i placed the hygrometer in my large humidor and have had nothing but perfect numbers. My smokes are staying in great shape!!! This is a product i would recommend to any aficianato!

Excellent replacement for out-dated model.

I ordered this hygrometer as part of a set with 50/50 propylene glycol (PG)/water solution and PG gel. The first one that they sent gave erroneous readings. I have two other hygrometers that read 70% humidity, 72-deg F. This one in the same humidor was close on the temperature, but way off on the humidity. I even placed it in a ziplock bag w/a little water in the bottom of the bag and let it set. The humidity reading never got above 50%. After sending it back, I received a replacement. The reading in the display screen was fading in and out. Once again the reading, when I could see it, was never above 40% humidity. When I prepared to return it, [...] that they were going to charge me $7.50 to return a product that never worked - for the second time!Needless to say, I will be going to the local brick and mortar to purchase a good hygrometer that I can verify works before taking it home.

compact enough to fit in my "ZipLock" humidor which i improvised while out on deployment. very necessary, to figure out when to refill the the crystal jar with solution.

Is okay but high for made in China and the battery lasted less than 2 weeks.
