Comments about Victor Sinclair 55 Series Green Box Pressed Sun Grown Robusto Grande:
I have smoked virtually all of the cigars in the 55 line Robusto size. The first thing to note is that the cigars need to be aged upon receipt for at least 3 months, or you risk a harsher tobacco and overly peppery smoke.
Once aged, the cigar presents nicely with the nice tight shape of the box-pressed, but with obvious lack of detail to the wrapper seams. Upon toasting, a light tobacco aroma presents which maintains in taste throughout the smoke with peppery highlights. The cigar grows to a medium affect with more pepper heat from the middle to end. Cigar ash is dark grey and falls off before one inch. I have often had the cigar band stick to the cigar at the seams indicating excess Pectin or lack of drying.
The entire line of these cigars are relatively undistinguished but for some reason lost upon me, has been experiencing upward price pressure. Purchase on special or auction or otherwise take a pass for better alternatives. Enjoy.
